Dear Friends,
Summertime and the livin' is easy... and so begins the famous lullaby from the opera Porgy and Bess. While the setting is staged among poor blacks living in the segregated South, the lullaby offers sweet assurances of carefree days, even though reality may not be so rosy. Despite the bleak setting, the images evoked by the song are beautifully soothing... ahhh summer!...
